I was privileged to work with Miranda Sharp to present on "Grit" to freshmen at Devil's Lake High School. As an team we were able to build essential connections to the students. This built on themes of resilience, empathy, and our own examples to help inspire the students. We shared academic, social, athletic and theatrics challenges we overcame. Additionally we shared how our challenges within high school shaped our life perspectives and goals. |
I had the opportunity to serve as the representative for the Liffrig Family School of Education & Behavioral Sciences on Student Government where I was able to be a student leader in the Day of Service volunteering at Fort Yates and during the Pow-Wow which allowed me to embrace new cultural practices. Additionally, I has the opportunity through my Diversity class to lead a field trip to Fort Lincoln and teach about Native American practices. |
Throughout my time at the University of Mary, I have been given opportunities to volunteer at Ministry on the Margins, where the joy that Sister Kathleen brings to the underprivileged through the work of Ministry on the Margins is immense. During my freshman ELA experience, I had the opportunity to student lead and coordinate the Ministry on the Margins service project.
